Immerse yourself in the art of the sublime: the Cinepoetry Festival (May 12th) at the Henry Miller Library!!

Fun fact: for every huge, sold-out, Arcade Fire-esque show here at the Henry Miller Library, there are two or three smaller, yet still-awesome events.

After all, to quote the Bee Gees, size isn’t everything.

It’s the idea of finding joy and meaning in the sublime. Life is about subtle, simmering expressions of…um, art.  My guru* taught me that.

So, with that in mind, let us present to you…the Verrucketer Schwanz Cinepoetry Festival, which will be held Thursday, May 12th, at the Henry Miller Library.

The night will include “selected short films that explore the intersection of cinematic and poetic expression.”

We’re excited for this night for a few reasons:

  1. We love art, film, and poetic expression (unlike, say, expressing our emotions.  Better to keep that stuff bottled up.)
  2. The event title has this cryptic, arty precursor: Verrucketer Schwanz. What’s that mean?  Who is Verrucketer?  And why is he there in the corner, in a tweed suit and wearing bifocals staring at me?
  3. There’ll be live music, food, and wine!
  4. The event is brought to you by two cool entities: the Henry Miller Library (duh…we’re the best!) and Ping Pong, our fantastic literary magazine.

How can you go wrong?  The HML and Ping Pong is like Sonny and Cher reuniting on Letterman.

Details TBA!
